Andy O’Brien joined Banyan as an Operating Partner in 2023. Andy works closely with the Banyan team to explore investment opportunities in the food & beverage, consumer products and retail sectors. 

Andy is an accomplished executive with over 30 years’ experience in the food industry, specializing in leadership and board roles. He has a strong track record in brand strategy, business development, product development, franchising, real estate and finance.  

Notably, Andy successfully led strategic initiatives as the CEO of M&M Food Market, overseeing brand repositioning, portfolio redevelopment, store network revamp, loyalty program implementation and eCommerce establishment.  

His achievements also include the acquisition and leadership of The WORKS Gourmet Burger Bistro, the successful management of over 275 locations as President of Montana’s BBQ & Bar and Kelseys Original Roadhouse, and 15 years in consumer packaged goods, rising through the ranks of brand management. 

Andy has an undergraduate degree in Finance and an MBA in Marketing from the Schulich School of Business.
