Matt O’Brien is President and Managing Director of CC&L Infrastructure, where he oversees all aspects of the firm’s business, strategy and growth. Matt represents the firm on the boards of numerous infrastructure projects and portfolio companies, and sits on the firm’s Investment Committee, Management Committee and Responsible Investment Steering Committee.

Matt joined CC&L Financial Group in 2005 to establish and lead its infrastructure and private equity businesses, now known as CC&L Infrastructure and Banyan Capital Partners. Over the last two decades, he has built an integrated infrastructure investment and asset management team, overseeing more than 3,300 operating employees across a broad range of infrastructure assets, raised billions of dollars across multiple funds, and assembled a global portfolio valued at over $7.5 billion. He holds a senior leadership role at Banyan Capital Partners, sitting on its Investment and Management Committees, and is a member of CC&L Financial Group’s Board of Directors.

Previously, Matt was a Managing Director in the M&A group at RBC Capital Markets, where he advised on a wide range of US and Canadian public and private transactions valued cumulatively at over $20 billion. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (with distinction) from McGill University and a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
